Seedlings!

Today we started planting a few of our garden seeds. There are different seeds that we can start growing indoors at different times. Today we started our celery, peppers and tomatoes.

This year we wanted to try planting our seeds in some bio-degradable hand made pots.

We needed newspaper and a pot maker and a lot of man power to make the pots.

Once our pots were made we started filling them with soil.

The seeds were next to go in. We then needed to water them, but soon realized that our watering can poured too much water into our small paper pots. We needed to find a different way to water the seedlings.

"This is hard work, my arm hurts!" (Saying this while grabbing his shoulder)

Mrs. Thwaites then went looking in our classroom for something to use as a watering can....she found a ketchup container.
Guess what.....it poured just the right amount of water for our pots.

Not too much, not too little.....just right!

Our seeds basking in the sunshine!!

The children are very excited to learn about how things grow and how much work is put into growing your own food.

  1. I'm so impressed with your creative watering device. Nice problem solving. Thanks for passing on the many lessons and joys that gardening has to offer, to the children in your room. BRAVO!
