Outside fun

The sun finally came back to join us! We were so excited to be outside and enjoy the weather.

The children got to use their creative skills while building with the new blocks that are in the play garden, (which have been very alluring while we are on the deck eating lunch). The children also worked their muscles on ground zero.

"This block is as tall as me!"

Working together to get across the zip line.

Finding a creative way to get up onto the monkey bars.

What a great afternoon spent outdoors.

Lunch at the park!

Today was our first day eating at the park during our outdoor week. Everyone was so excited!
The teachers picked up the kindergartens from school and from the bus, then we all walked together to ladybug park.

We had picnic blankets to sit on and beautiful sunshine to enjoy our lunch.

Once we finished our lunch we got to play on the play structure, swings and look for caterpillars (which is one of our favorited things to do right now)

It was a wonderful adventure in the middle of a school day. A fun filled lunch time had by all!

Gardening

It is finally time to start planting outdoors!!!

Our seedlings are all grown up and ready to plant.

See our previous blog entitled 'Planting!' to see the children planting the seeds which have grown into the above plants (celery, onion, tomato and peppers)!

Once we finished planting our grown plants we planted a few other vegetable seeds. After discussing with the children what we would like to grow, we planted the following seeds: peas, carrots, cucumber, zucchini, spaghetti squash, romaine, spinach and leaf lettuce.

We will get to watch our vegetables grow from seed to table over the summer. We will be cooking with and using our freshly grown vegetables for several of our snacks and meals throughout the summer. Our goal is to have 10% of our snacks come from our garden!

Tenting caterpillars

As all of you may have already noticed the city is very over populated by tenting caterpillars, which has brought about some exciting exploring in our adventure play ground.

A few of the children went around collecting them to see how many they could find...... Too many if you ask me! 😜

"They are covered in hair!"
This was noticed by a few of the children while they allowed the caterpillars to walk around on their hands.

At one point Ms. Cottrell decided to give the tree a little shake and well one of our friends was standing right under that tree.......can you guess what happened?

Caterpillars everywhere! On his hat, shirt, shorts, neck and arms. They were all over!

"This is so cool!!!"

Helping to clean him up!

We are so glad that we can find moments like this, especially when they can be shared with our families.

Morning in SA2

For the past week we have been joining School Age 2 in the mornings, so that a teacher can be outside for our drive up drop off program during the weeks of construction. This is being done so that parking can be available for all of our preschool families that can not take advantage of this program.

The children have been very excited to explore the School Age 2 classrooms. This is a great time for the children because during the summer months our children will begin moving into that program.

Speed stacking cups game!

Learning to play pool! It was a little tricky but with almost a week of practice we are starting to get it:)

Making new friends.....carry us around!

Trying to scare the teachers with snakes😁

Checking out everything from the reading loft!

Hiding in the cozy egg hut.

Doll house fun!

All the children talk about their mornings all day......making School Age 1 not feel so special😩
It's ok because we know they all love us....well at least that's what we tell ourselves!

Deck fun!

The last few days we have been enjoying some time on the deck.

Today the water table that has been in our classroom was outside on the deck and ready to play with. We were all super excited to put our hands in to the water!

We have been spending all of our time at the centre outside enjoying each others company in the fresh air!
