Outdoor week day 2: Adventures at Assiniboine park

For our first adventure at Assiniboine park we wandered the English Garden.
On our way to the English Garden we all got to walk independently in between or beside our teachers.

Here we are at the front of the English Gardens!

While we were in the English Garden we found some ponds that had some really interesting plants in them. We found out that those plants were called lily pads! It was really fascinating to see all the frogs living in there that were all different sizes and colours.

We also found some water snails in those ponds!

Learning about sundials. Unfortunately the sun was not shining so we couldn't see it in action.

Stopping to smell the flowers.

Gazing at our reflections in the pond.

We stopped to hug this really big tree.

The tree was so big, we tried to figure out how many friends we needed to get our arms all the way around it. We needed SIX friends to link hand all the way around the tree!

We looked at the ducks at the duck pond....

And found some "cute little baby ducks" sleeping right along the edge.

Group shot! How many children can we fit on one chair?

We decided to check out the conservatory before lunch.

The tallest banana tree you ever did see..at least in Winnipeg that is!

Just outside the conservatory we found a tree with a hole in it!

Fascinating!!!

Then we took a shuttle ride around the park, stopping back at the duck pond for lunch! We called it "the little bus".

Lunch time!! It decided to pour rain right in the middle of lunch. We had to quickly pack up and move into the duck pond shelter so our food wouldn't get soggy!

Right after lunch we headed across the bridge to Sargent Sundae for an ice cream snack!

What a wonderful day we had!
